This plugin provides commands and features related to pings. It can optionally auto-ping users who request it by saying "ping me" (a dumb idea, but many folks like it). It can also optionally report ping time results back to users.
/aping [on | off | silent]
This command controls the action of the auto-ping feature, which pings users who say "ping me" or "ping please" in the channel. If set to silent, the script will auto-ping users who request it, but won't clutter up your windows with any indication that it's doing so.
/chping
This command is essentially obsolete. The hipPingReporting module is now integrated with Ircle's /cping command and Ping button in the user window.
This command pings all the users in a channel. It pings the channel that's on top when you enter the command.
/rping [on | off | all]
This command controls the action of ping reporting. If you don't specify an option, it shows the current setting.
'Off' turns off all reporting of ping results back to other users.
'On' reports individual pings, but not channel pings.
'All' reports both individual and channel pings. Use this sparingly; by reporting channel ping results, you risk annoying people and encouraging ops to practice on you with their nifty kickban scripts.
When ping reporting is 'on', if you enter /cping #channelname (as opposed to /chping), or if you accidentally hit the cping button in the user window, ping times will be reported to each user as if the ping reporting option was 'all'. When Onno adds scripting support to allow scripts to handle user window buttons, I can fix this. Until then, just be careful with those buttons, I guess.
/nrping nick!user@host
/nrping -nickname or -number
This command maintains the list of users to whom ping-time reports are never sent. For any user on this list, the auto-pinger will not respond to "ping me" requests, and if you do a manual ping to them, the results will not be reported back to them. Handy for eliminating needless reports to 'bots, and also to shut up certain whiney users who just can't find themselves a real hobby and spend their time getting in your face as a substitute. You can use wildcards in the names, EG, "*DataPig*".
