#Macintosh rules
Nobody wants too many rules and regulations on IRC, but #Macintosh is
an official help channel, and as such there are certain measures we
must enforce to keep the channel functional. By using the channel, you
agree to abide by the following rules. Violations may result in a kick,
ban, or if you really annoy us (or evade bans), an AKICK.
These rules are actually just a basic guideline to ensure the IRC enjoyment
experience for ALL users, and are often subject to personal interpretation
by the Channel Operators.
No warez (pirating software)
This includes asking for warez, asking where to get warez, or typing !list
to access fileservers which don't exist. Do not ask for ROM files for
emulators, do not give us sob stories about lost CDs or serial numbers
- you will be bankicked if you ask for warez, simple.
Cracking
Do not ask for cracks or serialz. Covered by the first rule, included here for the intensely dumb.
Operating System bashing (of ANY kind)
Yes, Windows-bashing lamers will be kicked along with any other kind of
idiot. Do not bash another Operating System. #macintosh is NOT an OS debate
channel.
Swearing/profanity
Self explanatory. The general rule is "do not say anything not broadcasted
on American TV networks before 9pm". You might get a warning kick if you're
lucky.
General lameness:
including but by no means limited to trolling, flooding, harrassing other users, questioning op procedures.
Do not repeat your question excessively
If someone knows the answer to your question, they'll tell you. Repeating
it over and over is likely to not get you the answer if no one knows,
and you'll probably just end up on their Ignore lists.
Idling
Do not leave idle clients on the channel for more than 24 hours, or run the risk of being temporarily banned. This measure was instituted to reduce the number of spam bots that idle on IRC channels collecting nicknames.
